Iran and Iraq Foreign Ministers Discuss Nuclear Talks and Regional Stability
WANA (Feb 27) – The foreign ministers of Iran and Iraq held a phone conversation to discuss the latest regional and international developments, with a particular focus on the ongoing nuclear negotiations between Tehran and Washington. Both sides emphasized the importance of continued diplomatic coordination to safeguard regional peace and stability.
During the call, Seyed Abbas Araghchi, Iran’s Foreign Minister, briefed his Iraqi counterpart, Fuad Hussein, on the latest developments in the Iran–U.S. nuclear talks. The two diplomats also exchanged views on broader regional dynamics and their implications for neighboring countries.
According to the report, both ministers underscored the need for sustained close consultations among regional states to preserve stability and prevent further escalation, highlighting diplomacy as an essential tool for managing ongoing challenges.
The conversation took place shortly after the third round of nuclear negotiations between Iran and the United States was held in Geneva on Thursday, hosted and mediated by Oman—a round widely described by observers as a sensitive phase in efforts to revive nuclear understandings.
