Iran and Japan Foreign Ministers Hold Phone Talks
WANA (Apr 15) – The foreign ministers of Iran and Japan held a phone conversation to discuss the latest state of bilateral relations and regional developments.
During the call, Seyed Abbas Araghchi, Iran’s Foreign Minister, and Toshimitsu Motegi, Japan’s Foreign Minister, exchanged views on the progress of bilateral cooperation. They also addressed regional developments as well as issues related to Iran–U.S. negotiations taking place in Islamabad.
In this phone call, the security and economic consequences of the military attacks by the United States and the Israeli regime against Iran were discussed, including disruptions to shipping in the Strait of Hormuz.
Iran’s Foreign Minister noted that the insecurity in the Strait of Hormuz is a direct result of what he described as the war imposed by the United States and the Israeli regime on Iran, and stressed the need for all governments to adopt a responsible approach to prevent the situation from becoming more complicated.
Japan’s Foreign Minister expressed concern about the current situation and announced Japan’s readiness to help reduce tensions.
