Iran and Oman Are Committed to “Developing Side by Side”
WANA (May 30) – Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian emphasized that the foundation of Tehran-Muscat relations is “developing side by side,” reaffirming both countries’ commitment to this principle. His remarks came following the signing of 18 memoranda of understanding and cooperation agreements during his visit to Oman.
On Friday, May 30, 2025, Pezeshkian shared a message on X in both Persian and Arabic, highlighting his two-day visit to Muscat. He wrote: “During my visit to Oman, I met and spoke with my brother, Sultan Haitham bin Tariq. Together, we signed 18 MoUs and cooperation agreements. The guiding principle for both sides is to ‘develop side by side,’ and we remain committed to this goal. I thank the Sultan and the people of Oman for their warm hospitality.”
President Pezeshkian arrived in Muscat on Tuesday, May 27, at the official invitation of Sultan Haitham bin Tariq Al Said for a two-day state visit.

Following a formal welcome ceremony, the Iranian President held a private meeting with the Sultan at Al Alam Palace. A high-level joint meeting of the two delegations was then convened. The visit included the signing of 18 cooperation documents, separate meetings with Deputy Prime Minister Fahd bin Mahmoud Al Said and Foreign Minister Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi, as well as meetings with business leaders, the Iranian diaspora, and a visit to the Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque.
Muscat marked the tenth international destination for Pezeshkian as President of the Islamic Republic of Iran. His previous trips have included visits to Iraq, the United States, Qatar, Turkmenistan, Russia (twice), Tajikistan, Egypt, and Azerbaijan — all aligned with Iran’s strategic focus on strengthening neighborhood diplomacy, balanced engagement, and expanding regional and international partnerships.
This official visit to Oman is seen as a key step in the 14th administration’s regional diplomacy agenda, aimed at reinforcing the growing ties between the two nations.
