Iran and Oman Issue Joint Statement
WANA (May 28) – The Islamic Republic of Iran and the Sultanate of Oman, at the conclusion of the official visit of Dr. Masoud Pezeshkian, President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, to Muscat, issued a joint statement emphasizing the deep-rooted and historical ties between the two brotherly nations, their enduring bilateral cooperation, mutual respect between the leaderships of both countries, and the commitment to expanding relations in all areas.
In this statement, both countries expressed their determination to open new horizons in economic partnership, support the private sector in enhancing trade and investment, continue regional and international coordination, and jointly condemn the actions of the Israeli regime against the Palestinian people.
They also welcomed Oman’s active role in facilitating indirect talks between Iran and the United States on nuclear issues, and the issuance of a joint postal stamp as a symbol of cultural diplomacy.

Full Text of the Joint Statement:
In response to the brotherly invitation of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tariq of Oman, His Excellency Dr. Masoud Pezeshkian, President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, paid an official visit to the Sultanate of Oman on Tuesday and Wednesday, corresponding to 29–30 Dhu al-Qi’dah 1446 AH (May 27–28, 2025).
This visit was held within the framework of the longstanding historical relations between the Sultanate of Oman and the Islamic Republic of Iran and their brotherly peoples. It aimed to further strengthen the robust bilateral ties and reaffirm the mutual respect between the leaders and peoples of both countries, rooted in shared principles of brotherhood, faith, and good neighborliness.
During their official discussions in Muscat, His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tariq and His Excellency Dr. Masoud Pezeshkian reviewed prospects for joint cooperation, bilateral relations and their development, particularly in the fields of economic cooperation and joint investments. They also discussed coordination on matters of mutual interest that serve the interests of both friendly nations. The leaders expressed satisfaction with the current level of cooperation and stressed the importance of continuous enhancement of bilateral relations and exploring new economic partnership opportunities.
Both leaders welcomed the agreements reached under the framework of the Joint Commission for Cooperation in various fields and instructed that the commission hold its meetings on a regular basis.
Furthermore, the Sultan and the Iranian President emphasized the positive and constructive role of the private sectors in both countries and expressed hope that such efforts would lead to greater investments and increased trade volumes. They welcomed the signing of several agreements and memorandums of understanding aimed at structuring bilateral cooperation.
The two sides also welcomed the cooperation between Oman Post and Iran’s National Post Company, which led to the issuance of a joint postage stamp commemorating the deep bilateral ties and highlighting the commitment of both nations to strengthening cultural diplomacy. This initiative was seen as a meaningful step towards deepening mutual understanding and enhancing people-to-people connections.
The leaders of Oman and Iran also reviewed key regional and international issues of mutual concern, particularly the ongoing crisis in the Gaza Strip. They called for a full and lasting ceasefire and the immediate cessation of oppression and acts of genocide committed by Israeli occupation forces against the Palestinian people in Gaza and other occupied Palestinian territories. Both sides stressed the urgent need for the international community to provide humanitarian aid to the defenseless residents of Gaza and strongly condemned all plans involving forced displacement and harassment of its population. They also expressed satisfaction with the current level of political consultation and coordination between the two countries.
President Pezeshkian expressed appreciation for Oman’s constructive role in the ongoing indirect negotiations between the Islamic Republic of Iran and the United States regarding nuclear issues. In response, Sultan Haitham expressed hope that these talks would lead to a mutually acceptable agreement that promotes peace and stability in the region and the world, and contributes to the prosperity and well-being of the countries of the region.
Both leaders reaffirmed the importance of strengthening joint efforts to maintain security and stability in the region and beyond, and emphasized continued coordination and consultation in regional and international forums on issues contributing to peace and stability.
President Pezeshkian expressed his gratitude to Sultan Haitham bin Tariq, the government, and the people of Oman for the warm welcome and gracious hospitality extended to him. He also extended an official invitation to His Majesty the Sultan to visit the Islamic Republic of Iran, which was warmly welcomed.
