WANA (May 27) – Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff, General Asim Munir, met with Iran’s Chief of General Staff of the Armed Forces, Major General Mohammad Bagheri, in Tehran to discuss strengthening military ties and joint counterterrorism efforts along their shared border.

 

During the meeting, General Bagheri highlighted the deep and lasting strategic interest of Iran’s Supreme Leader in Pakistan, stressing that both countries are firmly committed to eliminating terrorism from both sides of the border.

 

He noted that the existing coordination between the Iranian and Pakistani armed forces has been effective in border control and should be further enhanced.

 

General Munir expressed gratitude for Iran’s warm hospitality and emphasized the importance of deepening military and defense cooperation between the two neighbors. He noted that Iran’s armed forces possess valuable experience across various fields and that Pakistan is eager to expand joint security initiatives.

Both sides reiterated their commitment to strengthening efforts in combating terrorism along the shared frontier.

 

At the beginning of the meeting, General Bagheri congratulated General Munir on his promotion to the rank of Field Marshal, praising his competence and leadership.

 

Bagheri also recalled his own visit to Pakistan last year, describing it as a memorable trip marked by hospitality and positive engagement, and called for continued and elevated military cooperation between the two countries.
