WANA (Oct 02) – Iranian Defense Minister Brigadier General Amir Azizi Nasirzadeh and Turkish Defense Minister General Yaşar Güler met in Ankara with the aim of strengthening military relations between the two countries.

The meeting took place at the official invitation of General Güler. During the talks, Nasirzadeh highlighted the opportunity for direct dialogue on bilateral defense relations and regional issues, noting:

“The common ground between Iran and Turkey is so extensive that existing differences pale in comparison. Yet, enemies have always tried to exaggerate disagreements while downplaying areas of cooperation.”

The Iranian defense minister emphasized that enhancing defense cooperation with neighboring states remains a priority for Tehran. He described Turkey as an important country in the Islamic world and the international arena, with significant political, economic, and military capacities. According to him, expanding defense and military ties with Turkey could play a key role in addressing challenges facing the Islamic world and the wider region.

Referring to ongoing regional developments, Nasirzadeh strongly criticized Israel, stating:

“With repeated attacks on Gaza, Lebanon, Yemen, Syria, and even Qatar, the Zionist regime demonstrates its expansionist and destabilizing nature. Through relentless assaults and the killing of innocents, it has become one of the most despised regimes in the eyes of people worldwide. Today, regional countries are united in condemning and confronting its crimes.”

He further invited his Turkish counterpart to visit Tehran to follow up on the agreements reached during their talks.

For his part, Turkish Defense Minister General Yaşar Güler described the Iranian minister’s visit to Ankara as a clear sign of the strong ties between the two countries. He stressed Turkey’s readiness for joint cooperation against terrorism and instability in the region, pointing to the activities of terrorist groups supported by external powers.

“Just as Iran considers Turkey’s security as its own, Turkey will exert every effort to enhance security, especially along the shared borders,” Güler said.

Brigadier General Pilot Aziz Nasirzadeh, Iran’s Minister of Defense and Armed Forces Logistics, arrived in Ankara yesterday (Wednesday, October 01, 2025). Upon arrival, he stated that enhancing military and defense cooperation between Tehran and Ankara is one of the main objectives of his two-day visit.
