Iran Announces Readiness to Support Commercial Vessels in the Strait of Hormuz
WANA (May 07) – The Ports and Maritime Organization of the Islamic Republic of Iran has issued an official message to the captains and owners of commercial vessels operating in the Strait of Hormuz and surrounding waters, announcing the full readiness of the country’s ports to provide maritime, technical, medical, and logistical support services.
According to the organization, vessels transiting the region, as well as ships anchored in Iranian territorial waters and ports, can receive services including food supplies, fuel, healthcare and medical assistance, and authorized repair equipment if needed.
The organization stated that the move is aimed at safeguarding the safety of seafarers, maintaining the seaworthiness of vessels, and ensuring the welfare of ship crews. The message is being transmitted officially through Iran’s maritime communication centers and regional VHF networks.
The Ports and Maritime Organization emphasized that the measure falls within Iran’s sovereign responsibilities in the field of maritime safety and port services, reflecting the country’s preparedness to support safe and sustainable commercial shipping through one of the world’s most strategic waterways.
According to the statement, the message will be broadcast three times a day for three consecutive days through regional maritime communication systems.
In the message addressed to vessel captains and owners, the organization noted that ships seeking maritime support services can contact the Vessel Traffic Services (VTS) centers of the nearest Iranian port via VHF Channel 16 or coordinate through their local representatives to submit their requests.
