WANA (Feb 25) – Masoud Pezeshkian announced Iran’s readiness to finalize a “Comprehensive Strategic Partnership Document” with Armenia, stressing that the expansion of ties in political, economic, transport, energy, and infrastructure sectors would further secure the interests of both nations.

Speaking Tuesday afternoon during a meeting with Armenian Defense Minister Suren Papikyan and his accompanying delegation, Pezeshkian underscored the Islamic Republic’s determination to broaden and deepen all-around relations with neighboring countries, particularly Armenia.

He described the development of relations with neighbors as a fundamental priority of Iran’s foreign policy, noting that strengthening comprehensive cooperation with Armenia is supported at the highest levels of the Iranian leadership. Tehran, he said, is firmly committed to enhancing bilateral cooperation in all areas of mutual interest.

Referring to what he called a positive trend in economic, construction, and transit corridor cooperation between the two countries, the president said the progress reflects a shared will to utilize mutual capacities. He also expressed appreciation for the Armenian government’s support of Iranian companies operating in the country.

Pezeshkian reiterated Iran’s readiness to finalize the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership Document between Tehran and Yerevan, emphasizing that the greater the elevation of relations across political, economic, transport, energy, and infrastructure fields, the more the interests of both countries and their peoples would be ensured.

Highlighting Iran’s principled approach toward regional developments, he said Tehran’s definitive policy is to support peace, stability, and sustainable security in the region, adding that Iran does not seek insecurity or tension, as any instability would harm all regional states.

The president also welcomed the peace agreement between Armenia and Azerbaijan, describing it as a positive step toward strengthening security and expanding regional cooperation.

Stressing that opportunities exist to expand cooperation in all areas of shared interest, Pezeshkian said countries should move along a path of constructive engagement to build a world in which nations live side by side in peace, mutual respect, and peaceful coexistence.

Referring to his recent visit to Armenia, he described the trip as constructive and fruitful, noting that all agreements reached during the visit are being seriously pursued by the relevant ministries and agencies, and expressing hope that their full implementation will further enhance bilateral and regional cooperation.

For his part, Papikyan expressed satisfaction with meeting the Iranian president and conveyed the greetings of Armenia’s prime minister. He described bilateral relations as strong, stable, and steadily expanding.

The Armenian defense minister highlighted the achievements of defense cooperation between the two countries in recent years, calling the interactions productive. He added that cooperation in economic and transport sectors is also progressing positively, contributing to stronger ties—cooperation that is politically and strategically significant for Armenia.

Papikyan described the Iranian president’s recent visit to Yerevan and the agreement to elevate relations to a strategic level as highly important, calling Iran an influential and significant neighbor for his country. He also expressed hope that issues and developments facing the Islamic Republic would be addressed and resolved through diplomatic channels and dialogue.
