Iran Army Chief: Forces on High Alert, Ready to Confront Any Threat
WANA (Apr 17) – Ahead of April 18, marked as Iran’s National Army Day, Major General Amir Hatami, Commander-in-Chief of the Iranian Army, issued a statement emphasizing that the country’s armed forces remain fully prepared to respond to any potential threat or act of aggression.
In his message, Hatami stressed that the army stands “with firm determination, vigilant eyes, and an iron will,” maintaining a constant state of readiness and reaffirming its commitment to defend Iran’s sovereignty and territorial integrity “until the very last breath.”
He described Army Day as a significant milestone in the history following the 1979 Islamic Revolution, highlighting the decisive role of Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini in preserving and strengthening the military institution at a critical time, preventing its dissolution and ensuring its continued role in safeguarding the nation.
The statement also referenced the army’s involvement in major conflicts, including the Iran-Iraq War (1980–1988), portraying its record as a combination of military strength and active participation in humanitarian and relief efforts.
Hatami further underscored that the Iranian Army continues its path under the leadership of Ayatollah Seyed Mojtaba Khamenei, focusing on enhancing domestic capabilities, leveraging modern knowledge, and sustaining combat readiness. He described the army as a dedicated guardian of the nation’s security and stability.
Concluding his message, the army chief expressed appreciation for military personnel and their families, affirming that Iran’s armed forces will continue to stand firm and resolute in pursuing their mission and national objectives.
