Iran Army Helicopter Missile Range Boosted Sevenfold
WANA (Jun 02) – Brigadier General Kioumars Heydari, Commander of the Iranian Army Ground Forces, announced on Monday that Iran’s Army Aviation (Havanirooz) has achieved self-sufficiency in producing strategic helicopter parts and increased the missile range of its helicopters by seven times.
Speaking at a ceremony titled “Surpassing the Production of 1,000 Airborne Parts” at the Army Aviation Center in Isfahan, Heydari said the unit has continuously supported friendly forces against enemies and enhanced the morale of troops in combat.
He described Havanirooz as one of the top military aviation units in Southwest Asia and noted its operational capabilities have improved with the integration of advanced night vision systems.
Heydari emphasized the large fleet of fully operational helicopters as proof of the Supreme Leader’s directive on self-reliance and the ability of Iranian forces to stand on their own feet. “Thanks to the locally produced parts we celebrate today, we have overcome supply challenges and all our helicopters are combat-ready to support military operations,” he said.
Highlighting the values guiding the Army, Heydari named loyalty to the Supreme Leader, justice, and meritocracy as its core principles. He praised the sacrifice of Army Aviation martyrs during the Sacred Defense era as exemplars of faith and courage.
Heydari also praised Havanirooz’s vital role in both military operations and disaster relief, citing their efforts during floods and earthquakes across Iran.
At this ceremony, ten refurbished helicopters of various types were delivered at the Army Aviation’s 4th Combat Base, along with several others, to operational units.
The addition of ten transport, reconnaissance, attack, and combat helicopters, as well as several other helicopters overhauled by the skilled specialists of the Army Aviation in Isfahan, reflects the vast capacity of Havanirooz for producing airborne parts for helicopters, including the Chinook, Cobra, Bell 214, and 206 Jet Ranger models.
