Iran Army Spokesperson: Ceasefires Used to Upgrade Combat Capabilities
WANA (Jul 05) – The spokesperson for the Islamic Republic of Iran Army warned on Sunday that any miscalculation by adversaries will be met with a crushing and decisive response from Iran’s armed forces.
Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of the funeral prayer ceremony at Tehran’s Imam Khomeini Mosalla, Brigadier General Mohammad Akraminia stated that Iran continuously utilizes ceasefires to enhance its combat readiness. “We have repeatedly declared that we use any ceasefire opportunity to upgrade our combat capabilities, and we will not lose or overlook a single moment,” Akraminia said.
Reflecting on the massive public turnout at the farewell ceremony for Iran’s late leader, the spokesperson added, “As our martyred leader stated, these people have been chosen, and God willing, they will carry this revolution forward to deliver it to its ultimate rightful custodian, Imam Mahdi.”
Akraminia highlighted the global significance of the gathering, expressing hope that the public’s presence and the leader’s sacrifice would awaken the international community to stand against oppression and global arrogance. He praised the public for creating a lasting, historic epic that he said would foster awakening across Muslim nations.
The farewell ceremonies began early Saturday at Tehran’s Grand Mosalla, drawing large crowds to pay their respects and reaffirm their commitment to the principles of the Islamic Revolution.
The memorial services for the late leader and family members—including Dr. Mesbahalhodá Bagheri Kani, Seyyedeh Boshra Khamenei, Zahra Haddad-Adel, and Zahra Mohammadi Golpayegani—will continue at the Mosalla until Sunday evening. A formal funeral procession is scheduled to take place in the capital on Monday, July 6.
Following the events in Tehran, the procession will move to the holy city of Qom on Tuesday, July 7. Special funeral ceremonies are also scheduled in the Iraqi cities of Najaf and Karbala on Wednesday, July 8, before the final procession and burial take place on Thursday, July 9, at the Holy Shrine of Imam Reza in Mashhad.
