WANA (Sep 16) – The Ambassador and Permanent Representative of the Islamic Republic of Iran to the United Nations in Geneva condemned Israel’s military aggression against Qatar, warning that continued inaction by the international community would allow the regime’s aggression and expansionism to spread “like a cancerous tumor,” endangering the security of the entire region.

Addressing the UN Human Rights Council’s emergency session, Ali Bahreini stated: “This aggression carries a clear message — not for a regime whose history is filled with systematic genocide, repeated aggressions, and hollow pride in committing such crimes — but for all of us. It is a serious warning that our failure and inaction in defending legal and moral principles have enabled an evil entity to undermine global order and security.”

He added: “This apartheid regime neither abides by international law, nor understands the language of civilized nations, nor believes in negotiation, peace, or stability. The two-week halt in Israel’s crimes and acts of genocide only came when the Armed Forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran took action. Without a firm response from the international community, Israel’s aggression and expansionism will continue unchecked, spread like a cancerous tumor, and pose a threat to all countries in the region. We are duty-bound to defend our people and humanity by any means necessary.”

The Iranian envoy reaffirmed: “We reiterate our full solidarity with the people and government of Qatar and support all initiatives and proposals aimed at holding Israel accountable.”

The emergency session of the UN Human Rights Council, titled “Examining Israel’s Military Aggression Against the State of Qatar”, was held today (Tuesday) at the UN headquarters in Geneva. The meeting was convened at the request of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) member states and the government of Qatar, following Israel’s September 8 attack on Qatari territory.

Opening the session, Maryam bint Ali bin Nasser Al-Misnad, Qatar’s Minister of State for International Cooperation, described the assault as a blatant violation of her country’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, calling it a serious threat to regional and international peace and stability.

In a joint statement, the OIC countries condemned Israel’s aggression against Qatar, denouncing it as a violation of the UN Charter, international law, and a direct assault on Qatar’s mediation efforts in the Palestinian humanitarian crisis. They warned that such provocative actions risk escalating regional tensions and stressed that the international community must compel Israel to halt its attacks and be held accountable. European, African, and Latin American states also described the assaults as illegal and unacceptable.
