WANA (Oct 18) – The Azerbaijan Ministry of Defense announced that Iranian naval units and vessels have departed Baku following the completion of the Azirex-2025 joint search and rescue exercise.

 

According to the ministry, Iranian naval forces entered Azerbaijan’s territorial waters on October 15 and arrived at the designated exercise location to participate in the drills.

 

Upon arrival, a formal reception ceremony was held for the Iranian vessels, attended by Azerbaijani Navy commanders and senior officials.

 

Following the ceremony, a joint meeting between the commanders of the Iranian and Azerbaijani navies took place, discussing bilateral cooperation and exercise details. A technical briefing on the exercise was also conducted, during which participants’ questions were addressed.

 

The primary goal of Azirex-2025 was to enhance security in the Caspian Sea and improve coordination and interoperability between the two countries’ naval forces in search and rescue operations.
