Iran, China, and Russia Hold Joint Nuclear Talks with Grossi

WANA (Jun 05) – In a coordinated diplomatic move ahead of next week’s International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) quarterly Board of Governors meeting, the permanent representatives of Iran, China, and Russia held a joint session with IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi to discuss the upcoming agenda.

The Iranian permanent mission in Vienna announced the meeting via a post on the social media platform X, emphasizing that Iran’s nuclear file remains a central topic for the scheduled diplomatic gathering.

Grossi Outlines Demands for Access

The joint meeting follows a unilateral report issued by Director General Grossi on Thursday. In the report, Grossi renewed his call for Tehran to allow IAEA inspectors to resume their verification work and site visits at damaged Iranian nuclear installations.

The IAEA chief stressed the urgent need to establish a durable, verifiable diplomatic framework to resolve the ongoing standoff.

Security Restrictions Following 2025 Air Strikes

Tehran’s restriction of IAEA access is tied to the military strikes launched by the United States and Israel in June 2025, which targeted Iranian nuclear facilities—specifically enrichment and centrifuge manufacturing centers.

Following those attacks, Iranian authorities suspended IAEA access to the affected sites, citing military aggression and heightened national security protocols.

However, standard inspections at the Bushehr Nuclear Power Plant have proceeded uninterrupted according to pre-established schedules.

Tehran Criticizes IAEA Silence on Sabotage

Iranian officials have repeatedly demanded that the IAEA formally condemn the military strikes against its sovereign nuclear infrastructure.

Tehran has criticized the Director General and the Board of Governors for failing to denounce the attacks or the targeted assassinations of Iranian physicists and university professors, despite the illegal nature of such actions under international law.
