WANA (May 29) – The Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council and the Secretary of the Political and Legal Affairs Commission of the Chinese Communist Party have emphasized the need to elevate bilateral cooperation to a strategic level.

Ali-Akbar Ahmadian, Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, met with Chen Wenqing, Secretary of the Political and Legal Affairs Commission of the Chinese Communist Party, on the sidelines of a visit to Russia.

Highlighting the deep-rooted civilizations of both nations, Ahmadian said Tehran-Beijing cooperation could bring security and economic prosperity to the region.

He stressed the importance of continued consultations among independent nations to safeguard regional security, noting, “The current global security mechanisms are unjust and are being manipulated by the West to serve its own interests.”

Referring to the upcoming visit of Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian to China, Ahmadian stated that planning is underway to implement bilateral agreements, adding, “Efforts must also be made to expand trade exchanges to match the level of political relations.”

“Iran consistently keeps its allies informed during negotiations and dialogues,” he added.

Chen Wenqing, for his part, emphasized Iran’s influential role in the region and affirmed that Beijing places high importance on its ties with Tehran.

He also pointed to hostile efforts aimed at undermining cooperation between the two countries, stating that Tehran-Beijing relations have entered a new phase and will reach greater heights through the determination of both nations’ leaders.

Speaking at the Moscow Security Conference, the head of the Chinese delegation expressed hope that Iran and China would develop a joint roadmap for counterterrorism efforts.
