WANA (Apr 01) – Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has strongly condemned the recent decision by the Israeli Knesset to authorize the execution of Palestinian prisoners, describing the move as a clear violation of fundamental human rights and international humanitarian law.

 

In a statement released on Wednesday, the ministry emphasized that the measure contravenes basic moral principles and international obligations, particularly the 1949 Geneva Conventions, and called it a “devastating blow” to the international legal order.

 

The statement further noted that the decision is part of broader policies directed against the Palestinian people, including what it described as “genocidal and colonial elimination,” and said it exposes the “apartheid and fascist nature” of the Israeli regime.

 

It also characterized the move as evidence of the “moral and human decline” of the regime’s policymakers.

 

Reaffirming the Palestinian people’s fundamental right to self-determination and the establishment of an independent state with Jerusalem as its capital, the ministry called on the international community, the United Nations, and legal and human rights institutions to take immediate and effective action to end impunity and halt ongoing violations.

 

The statement also warned that continued inaction in the face of repeated breaches of international law would not only prolong the violation of Palestinian rights but also pose serious threats to regional and global security.

 

Separately, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmail Baghaei described the decision as an “unprecedented and dangerous measure,” stressing that it violates core principles of international humanitarian law, particularly Common Article 3 of the Geneva Conventions.

 

He added that the law represents a “deeply alarming regression toward barbarism and a return to the law of the jungle,” warning of what he called a “profound decline of human civilization” driven by global inaction in the face of such violations.
