WANA (May 17) – The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran issued a statement condemning the assassination of the Commander-in-Chief of the Al-Qassam Brigades in “Occupied Palestine.”

 

The text of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs statement regarding the assassination of the Commander-in-Chief of the Al-Qassam Brigades is as follows:

 

“And never think of those who have been killed in the cause of Allah as dead. Rather, they are alive with their Lord, receiving provision. [Quran 3:169]

 

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs strongly condemns the terrorist act of the brutal Zionist regime in assassinating Izz al-Din Haddad, Commander-in-Chief of the Al-Qassam Brigades, his wife, and his child.

 

It extends its congratulations and condolences on the martyrdom of this great Mujahid, his wife, and his child in the path of the divine-human cause of Palestine to the leadership of the Hamas movement, the mujahid and patient nation of Palestine, and all Muslims and free-thinking people of the world.

 

This terrorist act and similar assassinations are part of Israel’s criminal plot for the colonial erasure of Palestine, and the United States, as the largest provider of weapons, financial, and political support to the Zionist apartheid regime, is an accomplice in each and every one of these crimes.

 

The cowardly assassination of Palestinian leaders and elites is a clear sign of the desperation and helplessness of a regime that, despite committing the most horrific crimes and massacring hundreds of thousands of innocent humans over the past eight decades, has failed to dry up the spirit of resistance against occupation, apartheid, and violent colonialism in the minds and hearts of the Palestinian people, to the extent that Palestinians are now more determined than ever to fight for the realization of their human rights, particularly the right to self-determination.

 

Undoubtedly, the physical elimination of resistance commanders and Palestinian elites will not only cause no disruption to the school of thought and path of resistance, but will also serve as an inspiration to the followers and mujahideen on the path toward the dignity and freedom of Palestine.”
