Iran Condemns Atrocities and Humanitarian Crisis in El Fasher at UN Session
WANA (Nov 14) – At the 38th Special Session of the UN Human Rights Council on the human rights situation in El Fasher and its surrounding areas amid the ongoing conflict in Sudan — held on Friday, 14 November 2025, in Geneva — Ali Bahreini, Iran’s Ambassador and Permanent Representative to the UN Office in Geneva, condemned the escalating humanitarian and human rights crisis in the region.
Expressing deep concern over the worsening situation, Bahreini stated that severe famine, mass displacement, and the suffering of civilians have created one of the world’s gravest humanitarian emergencies, demanding the urgent attention of the international community.
Criticizing the persistent silence and lack of decisive international action that has allowed the crisis to intensify, he added that Iran is particularly alarmed by the continued flow of weapons that fuel these atrocities. He stressed that foreign interference — including arms supplies and the recruitment of mercenaries — has prolonged the conflict and exacerbated the humanitarian catastrophe.

Reaffirming the importance of respecting Sudan’s territorial integrity, Bahreini emphasized that Iran strongly rejects any attempt to impose a “dual governance” structure or undermine the authority of Sudan’s legitimate central government. He called on all states to take decisive action, protect civilians, and support lasting peace and unity in Sudan.
During the session, member states collectively condemned the atrocities committed in El Fasher and its surrounding areas, underscoring the need to protect civilians and pursue sustainable solutions to Sudan’s severe humanitarian and political crisis.
