WANA (Sep 21) – The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran has condemned a drone strike on a mosque in the city of El-Fasher, Sudan.

In a statement released on Sunday night, September 21, 2025, the ministry described the attack—which killed and injured a number of innocent Sudanese worshippers—as a blatant violation of international humanitarian law.

The statement expressed condolences to the victims’ families and wished a swift recovery for the wounded. It further emphasized the urgent need to halt attacks against civilians and vital infrastructure in Sudan, and called for resolving the ongoing crisis in the country through Sudanese-Sudanese dialogue.

On September 19, in what has been described as the bloodiest attack since the outbreak of war in Sudan, a drone operated by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) struck worshippers during dawn prayers at a mosque in the Al-Daraja al-Oula neighborhood of El-Fasher, the capital of North Darfur in western Sudan, killing dozens of civilians.

Local sources reported that the initial death toll from the airstrike stood at at least 70 killed and eight wounded, most of them in critical condition.

Major Jamal al-Din Issawi Adam, a member of the media committee of the joint forces known as the “Armed Struggle Movements,” told Al Jazeera Net that “the RSF deliberately carried out a massacre with military precision, targeting unarmed worshippers with the aim of annihilating them.”

He added that the attack was “part of the systematic targeting of civilians and constitutes a crime of ethnic cleansing,” noting that the number of victims, including many wounded, had exceeded 70.
