Iran Condemns Israeli Aggression Against Lebanon
WANA (Jun 06) – Spokesperson for Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Esmaeil Baghaei, strongly condemned the Israeli regime’s drone and airstrikes targeting residential areas in Beirut’s southern suburb (Dahiyeh) on the eve of the major Islamic holiday, describing the attacks as a blatant violation of Lebanon’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
Baghaei highlighted the repeated aggressions committed by the Zionist regime against Lebanon amid the silence and inaction of the United Nations Security Council. He underscored the direct responsibility of ceasefire guarantors—particularly the United States and France—stating that without Washington’s green light and overt and covert support, Israel would not dare to continue its systematic violations of international law and the UN Charter.
Reiterating the Security Council’s obligation to uphold international peace and address acts of aggression, the spokesperson called for concrete action by the Council in accordance with the UN Charter. He stressed that the continued lawlessness and occupation by the Israeli regime in Lebanon and across the region clearly demonstrate that the only viable path to safeguarding national sovereignty and independence lies in strengthening defense capabilities and maintaining dignified resistance against the occupying regime.
