WANA (Sep 09) – Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei strongly condemned the Israeli regime’s attack on Qatar and Hamas officials, calling it “an extremely dangerous and criminal act” that violates international law and the principles of the United Nations Charter.

“We received the news just minutes ago,” Baghaei said in reaction to the incident. “This action by the Israeli regime is a continuation of the crimes it has committed by violating all international norms and rules. It represents a flagrant breach of international laws and regulations, an infringement on Qatar’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, and an attack on Palestinian negotiators.”

Baghaei added, “We are conducting a careful review of the developments, but from the perspective of international law, all legal norms have been violated. This action is extremely dangerous and constitutes a violation of the principles, objectives, and rules of the UN Charter.”

He stressed that the incident should serve as a wake-up call for regional states and the broader international community. “It is a warning about the dangers arising from the continued inaction and indifference of the global community toward the aggressions and violations committed by the Israeli regime in occupied Palestine and across West Asia,” he said.

According to media reports, the Israeli army and Shin Bet conducted a “precise strike” against Hamas leadership through the air force. A senior Hamas source said the group’s negotiating delegation was targeted while holding a meeting in Doha.

The attack took place as the Hamas delegation was reportedly discussing U.S. President Donald Trump’s ceasefire proposal. Hamas members in Qatar and Doha targeted by Israel include:

  • Khaled Mashal
  • Khalil al-Hayya
  • Imtihan Zahir
  • Mohammad Darwish
  • Hisham Badran
  • Taher al-Nounou
  • Mousa Abu Marzouk
