WANA (Aug 09) – In a statement issued Sunday night, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran emphasized the responsibility of the international community to stop genocide and provide immediate assistance to the people of Gaza and condemned the recent resolution of the Israeli regime’s cabinet to fully occupy the Gaza Strip and forcibly displace its residents.

Statement of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran:

“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran, while expressing deep concern and strong disgust over the continuation of killings and genocide in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank and the violation of Islamic holy sites in Al-Quds Al-Sharif, and while appreciating the principled positions of freedom-seeking governments and nations in declaring solidarity with the oppressed people of Palestine, stresses the responsibility of the international community to stop genocide and provide immediate assistance to the oppressed people of Gaza.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran strongly condemns the recent resolution of the Israeli regime’s cabinet to fully occupy the Gaza Strip and forcibly displace its residents, considering it part of the completion of the plan for the genocide of Palestinians and the eradication of the identity and existence of Palestine.

This resolution is a blatant violation of international law and a deliberate action aimed at expanding occupation and imposing new realities across the occupied Palestinian territories through force and military power.

Without doubt, the actions of the Israeli regime to again forcibly displace the Palestinian people are condemned, and the historical, legal, and established status of the holy sites in the city of Al-Quds must be preserved.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs stresses the necessity of the immediate and complete cessation of the Israeli regime’s aggressions against Gaza, the immediate, unconditional, and complete entry of humanitarian aid into the strip, the guarantee of the freedom of action for relief organizations in carrying out humanitarian missions, support for regional and international efforts to achieve a full and immediate ceasefire, the withdrawal of occupying forces from the Gaza Strip, the exchange of prisoners and detainees, and the implementation of a plan for the reconstruction of Gaza.

Given the decisions of the International Criminal Court to issue arrest warrants for political and military officials of the Israeli regime and the orders of the International Court of Justice regarding the crime of genocide in the occupied Palestinian territories, the responsibility for the heinous crimes committed and the unprecedented human catastrophes in the Gaza Strip lies with this regime.

The international community, especially the UN Security Council and other global legal and human rights bodies, is expected—by fulfilling their legal and moral duties—to prepare the ground for the prosecution and punishment of the Zionist criminals and to end this regime’s long-standing impunity.

The realization of the national rights of the Palestinian people, foremost among them the fundamental right to self-determination and the establishment of an independent and unified Palestinian state with Al-Quds Al-Sharif as its capital, is a legal and moral necessity.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, while reaffirming the principled position of the Islamic Republic of Iran in supporting the right of the Palestinian people for complete liberation from occupation, apartheid, and colonialism, recalls its democratic initiative for a referendum among the original inhabitants of the land of Palestine—Muslims, Christians, and Jews—to determine their own destiny and the type of political system governing the land of Palestine.”
