WANA (Aug 08) – Iranian official Esmaeil Baqaei has condemned Israel’s reported plan to militarily occupy Gaza City and forcibly displace its residents, describing it as a “blueprint for completing the genocide of the Palestinian people.”

Baqaei stressed that threats by “the criminal rulers of the historic land of Palestine” — who are under investigation by the International Criminal Court (ICC) and whose actions are being reviewed by the International Court of Justice (ICJ) as potential acts of genocide — are clear evidence of Israel’s intent to carry out ethnic cleansing in Gaza. He urged both the ICC and ICJ to address this as part of their ongoing proceedings.

Highlighting the legal and moral responsibility of all governments and the United Nations to stop the genocide and atrocities taking place in the occupied Palestinian territories, Baqaei condemned the continued complicity of the United States and some Western countries with “the crimes of the Zionist regime” as shameful.

He stated that forcing Israel to halt the genocide and immediately allow the delivery of humanitarian aid to the starving and thirsty people of Gaza is an essential step to ending “a catastrophe that has shaken the legal, normative, and moral foundations of human civilization.”

Baqaei also noted that the Islamic Republic of Iran has formally requested the Secretariat of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), as well as Saudi Arabia as the host country and Türkiye as chair of the OIC Council of Foreign Ministers, to convene an urgent emergency meeting. He called for a united effort by Islamic nations to assist the oppressed people of Palestine.
