WANA (Aug 31) – Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a statement strongly condemning the Israeli regime’s terrorist attack on Yemen and warned of the escalating threats posed by its expansionist actions and organized terrorism against international peace and security.

The statement said the aggressive act by the Israeli regime against Yemen, which resulted in the martyrdom of Ahmed Ghalib Nasser al-Rahwi, Prime Minister of the Government of Change and Development, and several accompanying ministers, is condemned in the strongest terms. It also emphasized the urgent need for the international community and Islamic countries to take action to curb the regime’s rogue behavior.

The ministry added that the Israeli airstrikes on Yemen’s infrastructure and residential areas, as well as the targeting of senior officials and innocent civilians, constitute a clear case of war crimes and crimes against humanity. The statement described the attacks as a vengeful act against a nation determined to uphold its moral and humanitarian responsibility in supporting the Palestinian people.

The statement further noted: “These terrorist attacks and the martyrdom of government officials in Yemen will not undermine the determination of this free and courageous nation to defend its dignity and support the oppressed Palestinian people, but will only increase public anger across the Islamic world toward the Israeli regime and its supporters, especially the United States.”

Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs also extended condolences for the martyrdom of the Prime Minister and other senior Yemeni officials, highlighting the responsibility of the United Nations and all member states to take immediate action to halt the Israeli regime’s warlike aggression and hold the perpetrators accountable.

The ministry warned that continued inaction by the UN Security Council regarding Israeli attacks on national sovereignty and gross violations of international law would further weaken global legal norms and moral foundations, putting regional and global peace and security at unprecedented risk. The statement also called for the immediate cessation of the Gaza massacre, an end to the killing of Palestinians, and the prosecution of Israeli political and military leaders for their heinous crimes.

Reports indicate that in the Israeli airstrikes on Sanaa on Thursday, Ahmed Ghalib Nasser al-Rahwi, Prime Minister of the Government of Change and Development, along with several ministers, was killed. Ansarallah reported that several other ministers were injured, some seriously, and are currently under care.

The Yemeni Prime Minister’s office said the attack targeted the Prime Minister and several ministers during a government training workshop. The Israeli regime later confirmed that several Yemeni officials were targeted in the operation.

These attacks come as political and military authorities in Sanaa have repeatedly stated that as long as Israeli aggression continues against Gaza, they will maintain missile attacks against the occupied Palestinian territories.
