Iran Condemns Israel’s Strike on Yemeni Aircraft
WANA (May 29) – The spokesperson for Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs strongly condemned the “Zionist” regime’s airstrikes on Sana’a International Airport and the destruction of a passenger aircraft belonging to Yemeni Airways, describing it as yet another sign of the Israeli regime’s savagery and its hostility toward the Muslim people of Yemen and the region.
Esmaeil Baghaei, in a media statement, described this attack by the “Zionist” regime—carried out during the Hajj season with the aim of preventing Yemeni pilgrims from traveling to the holy land and participating in the Hajj rituals—as a major crime, and called for immediate and serious attention by international organizations, particularly the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), to this situation.
The Foreign Ministry spokesperson, referring to the repeated aggressions by the Israeli regime against Yemen’s economic infrastructure and civilian facilities—including ports, airports, food warehouses, and similar sites—considered these attacks a clear instance of war crimes and crimes against humanity.
He emphasized that the Israeli regime’s brutal hostility toward the Muslim nations of West Asia is a clear indication of its intrinsic alienation from the people of the region and the regime leaders’ efforts to spread war and insecurity throughout the region and the world.
Baghaei highlighted the legal and moral responsibility of all countries in the region and the world to confront the Israeli regime’s lawlessness and crimes in the occupied Palestinian territories and against other regional countries.
He stressed that the Israeli regime’s impunity—enabled by the UN Security Council’s inaction and the United States’ all-out support—has caused irreparable harm to the normative system based on the UN Charter and has posed an unprecedented threat to global peace and security, which requires urgent action by the international community.
