Iran Condemns Israel’s Violation of Somalia’s Sovereignty
WANA (Dec 27) – Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman, Esmaeil Baghaei, has strongly condemned the Israeli regime’s flagrant violation of the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Somalia. Baghaei described Israel’s attempts to advance a “conspiracy to partition” the Islamic nation as a clear breach of international law and the fundamental principles of the UN Charter.
Affirming Somalia’s Unity
Reiterating the Islamic Republic of Iran’s principled stance on the necessity of preserving the national sovereignty and territorial unity of the Federal Republic of Somalia, Baghaei characterized the Israeli regime’s recent maneuvers as “malicious.”
He stated that these actions align with the regime’s broader policy of destabilizing regional nations and escalating insecurity in the Red Sea and the Horn of Africa.
The spokesman further expressed Iran’s support for the firm positions taken by the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) and the African Union in condemning Israel’s actions, calling on the international community to take decisive measures to neutralize the “expansionist and threatening” agendas of the occupying regime.
Forced Displacement of Palestinians
These diplomatic tensions follow recent remarks by the Israeli regime’s Finance Minister, Bezalel Smotrich. Speaking at the Knesset, Smotrich detailed a plan for the forced displacement of Palestinians—initially proposed by Donald Trump—under which the Ministry of Migration would operate under the Ministry of War to facilitate the exit of 5,000 to 10,000 people from Gaza daily.
The Africa Connection and Somaliland Deal
Reports are emerging regarding the potential transfer of Palestinians to Africa. According to The Associated Press, the United States and the Israeli regime held negotiations last February with Sudan, Somalia, and the autonomous region of Somaliland to accept Palestinian refugees.
On Friday evening, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced that Israel has officially recognized the breakaway region of Somaliland as an independent state.
This declaration followed the signing of a joint agreement between Netanyahu and Somaliland President Abdirahman Mohamed Abdullahi. Israeli media outlets have since reported that as part of this diplomatic move, Somaliland has agreed to accept Palestinian refugees from the Gaza Strip.
