WANA (Aug 14) – Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has strongly condemned a joint statement issued by France and several Western partners regarding the human rights situation in Iran, describing the move as a clear instance of “hypocritical projection.”

 

Hamid Ahmadi, the acting Director-General for Human Rights at Iran’s Foreign Ministry, characterized the Western statement as a repetitive attempt to evade accountability for the severe violations of human rights and international humanitarian law committed by these nations globally, particularly in Africa and West Asia, as well as against Iranian citizens.

 

Colonial Legacy and Middle East Stance

Recalling France’s colonial history in Africa and its interventions that led to human rights violations, Ahmadi advised French authorities to reform their domestic racial policies and treatment of migrants rather than lecturing others. He also called on Paris to end its unconditional support for Israel.

 

Ahmadi pointed to the silence of Western nations regarding military aggressions by the United States and Israel against Iranian territory, specifically citing civilian casualties from historical conflicts, including the bombing of a school in Minab.

 

He further accused France, the European Union, and co-signatories of complicity in Israeli military actions across the region, including in Palestine, Lebanon, Syria, and Yemen, through political and military assistance.

 

Rejection of External Interference

Emphasizing Tehran’s commitment to protecting the rights and dignity of all Iranian citizens, Ahmadi asserted that Western nations have lost their moral standing on human rights due to their colonial history and double standards. He added that the Iranian public has not forgotten the ambiguous positions and silence of these states during military aggressions against Iran.

 

Addressing judicial matters, the Iranian official maintained that the prosecution and sentencing of offenders in Iran are conducted under the rule of law and due process. He stated that neither France nor the European Union has the right to interfere in Iran’s internal affairs or its judicial proceedings regarding individuals accused of serious crimes under national and international law.

 

Concluding his remarks, Ahmadi criticized the political, media, and logistical support provided by the signatories to hostile groups targeting Iran, demanding that these nations be held accountable for their interventionist policies.
