Iran Condemns Ongoing Israeli Attacks on Lebanon
WANA (Mar 17) – Iran’s Foreign Ministry has strongly condemned the continued attacks by Israel against Lebanon, describing them as grave violations of international law.
Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei, speaking early Tuesday, denounced Israel’s “aggressive actions,” including strikes on residential and civilian areas, particularly in southern Lebanon, the Bekaa Valley, and the southern suburbs of Beirut. He said the attacks have resulted in the deaths of more than 800 people, left thousands injured, and displaced hundreds of thousands.
Baghaei stated that the bombing of residential areas, the killing of civilians, medical personnel, and aid workers, as well as the destruction of critical infrastructure, constitute clear violations of international law and international humanitarian law.
He described these actions as evident examples of war crimes and crimes against humanity, stressing that the international community cannot remain indifferent.
He further criticized the inaction of international bodies in the face of repeated ceasefire violations and ongoing attacks, arguing that such silence—along with U.S. support—has encouraged Israel to intensify its operations.
Expressing condolences to the families of the victims and wishing a swift recovery for the injured, Baghaei reaffirmed Iran’s support for Lebanon in confronting occupation and aggression.
He also called on the international community, particularly the United Nations Security Council, to fulfil its responsibilities in preventing further violations of peace and ensuring accountability for crimes committed against the Lebanese people.
