WANA (Feb 06) – The Islamic Republic of Iran has strongly condemned the recent terrorist attack in Pakistan’s capital that took place during Friday prayers.

 

According to official sources, Esmail Baghaei, Spokesperson for Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, issued a statement denouncing the terrorist attack on the Hazrat Khadijah al-Kubra Mosque in the Terlai area of Islamabad, describing it as a criminal act that resulted in the death and injury of a number of worshippers. He expressed Iran’s deep sympathy with the families of the victims and extended condolences to the government and people of Pakistan, while wishing a speedy recovery and good health to those injured.

 

Emphasizing Iran’s principled stance in firmly condemning all forms of terrorism and violent extremism, the Foreign Ministry spokesperson stressed that effective prevention and confrontation of this phenomenon require close cooperation and coordination among all countries in the region. He also underscored the need for sustained action against the perpetrators, organizers, supporters, and financial backers of terrorist acts.

 

According to reports by local Pakistani media, at least 31 people were killed and 169 others injured in the explosion. The incident has once again highlighted regional and international concerns over the threat of terrorism and the urgent need to strengthen security cooperation.
