WANA (Nov 28) – Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson on Friday condemned a terrorist attack in the Shamsuddin Shohin district of Tajikistan’s Khatlon province, expressing sympathy for the families of the victims and solidarity with the governments of Tajikistan and China.

Esmail Baghaei, the Foreign Ministry spokesperson, denounced the attack—which resulted in the deaths of three Chinese nationals working in Tajikistan—and conveyed Iran’s condolences to the bereaved families.

Baghaei reaffirmed Iran’s principled position in strongly condemning all forms of terrorism, emphasizing the need to strengthen multilateral cooperation to prevent and combat terrorist threats.

Tajikistan said on Thursday that three Chinese workers were killed when a drone “launched from Afghan territory” struck a camp in the Khatlon region late Wednesday, calling on the authorities in Kabul to take action to prevent further incidents.

The attack targeted the LLC Shohin SM workers’ camp near the 1st Border Guard Post “Istiqlol” in the Yol Border Detachment.

The Tajik Foreign Ministry said an unmanned aerial vehicle carrying grenades and firearms hit the site.

The three victims were employees of the company and Chinese citizens. The ministry claimed that “criminal groups” operating inside Afghanistan were responsible for the strike.

Dushanbe condemned the attack and urged Afghanistan’s ruling authorities to take “effective measures” to ensure stability and security along the border.
