Iran Condemns US Threats Against Oman, Affirms Joint Control Over Strait of Hormuz
WANA (May 29) – Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi held a telephone conversation with Omani Foreign Minister Badr Albusaidi to discuss regional security and maritime cooperation.
During the call, the Iranian Foreign Minister praised Oman’s principled and responsible approach to regional peace and security.
He specifically highlighted Oman’s constructive role as a mediator in Iran-US dialogues, noting that these efforts were met with American bad faith, and condemned Washington’s threatening rhetoric against the Sultanate.
In an English statement published on social media, Araghchi described the call as “very productive” and stated that he “expressed Iran’s solidarity with Oman in the face of any threat.”
The two diplomats focused significantly on the strategic shipping lanes in the region. Araghchi said that they “discussed Hormuz and its future administration in line with our sovereign responsibilities and international law,” adding that Iran “welcomes consultation with all neighboring states.”
He noted that the responsible measures of Oman and Iran to manage the safe and secure transit of shipping in the Strait of Hormuz are based on the rules of international law and in line with the interests of the international community.
