Iran Criticizes Nobel Peace Prize for Machado
WANA (Oct 11) – The Iranian Embassy in Caracas has criticized the awarding of the Nobel Peace Prize to Venezuelan politician María Corina Machado, describing her as an advocate for foreign military intervention in Venezuela.
In a post on the social media platform X on Saturday, the embassy said: “Awarding a ‘Peace’ Prize to someone who justifies genocide in Gaza and calls for foreign military aggression against Venezuela is merely another indication of the West’s divisive and interventionist mindset toward developing countries.”
The embassy added that the decision “reduces the concept of ‘peace’ to a mockery.”

María Corina Machado, leader of Venezuela’s opposition, was named the 2025 Nobel Peace Prize winner yesterday for “keeping the flame of democracy alive amid increasing darkness” by the Nobel Committee.
Machado is a staunch supporter of the Israeli regime and a prominent figure of Venezuela’s Western-aligned opposition. She has openly advocated for foreign military intervention in Venezuela and the transfer of national resources to Western companies.
In her 2024 speeches, she called for tougher U.S. sanctions and even “military action” against her own country.
An Israeli newspaper also revealed today that Machado signed a cooperation agreement in 2020 with Israel’s Likud Party, led by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
