Iran Criticizes UN Inaction Following Israeli Strikes on Lebanon
WANA (Feb 27) – Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei strongly condemned the recent airstrikes carried out by Israel against Lebanon, including in the Beqaa region, which resulted in civilian casualties and damage to the country’s infrastructure.
Baghaei called on the United Nations Security Council to take immediate action in line with its responsibility to maintain international peace and security.
Referring to what he described as the continued violation of Lebanon’s national sovereignty and territorial integrity, the spokesman characterized the Security Council’s ongoing silence and inaction regarding Israel’s alleged lawbreaking and crimes as “catastrophic.”
He also stressed the direct responsibility of the United States and France, as guarantors of the ceasefire, for the continuation of the current situation.
According to Lebanese sources, the Israeli strikes in eastern Lebanon left one person dead and 29 others wounded.
