WANA (Jul 10) – Iran has delivered several tons of humanitarian aid to Venezuela following the country’s recent devastating earthquakes.

 

Venezuelan Foreign Minister Yván Gil Pinto said in a statement that the Islamic Republic of Iran had sent the humanitarian assistance along with a message of solidarity and unity between the two nations.

 

On behalf of the Bolivarian government and the people of Venezuela, Gil thanked Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi, and Iran’s Chargé d’Affaires in Venezuela, Seyed Siros Karimi, for what he described as their exceptional support during the emergency.

 

He added that the friendship between the peoples of Iran and Venezuela grows stronger every day.

 

The humanitarian shipment follows the recent devastating earthquakes that struck Venezuela.

 

According to Jorge Rodríguez, President of Venezuela’s National Assembly, the death toll has risen to 3,889, while more than 16,000 people have been injured.

 

In a Telegram post on Thursday, Rodríguez said that 3,889 people had lost their lives, 16,740 had been injured, and 6,462 people had been rescued.

 

The latest official figures show that 17,907 people remain homeless, while assistance has been provided to 86,794 families.

 

Rodríguez also announced that 89 temporary shelters have been established across the country, currently housing 16,891 people.
