Iran Denies Any Plans to Transfer Enriched Uranium
WANA (Feb 02) – Ali Bagheri, Deputy for Foreign Policy at Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, dismissed media speculation regarding the transfer of Iranian enriched uranium, stating that Iranian officials have no intention of sending nuclear materials to any country and that possible negotiations with the United States do not involve such matters.
The comments come amid reports suggesting a possible transfer of Iran’s highly enriched uranium to a third country during potential Tehran-Washington talks.
In response to these reports, Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov told reporters on Monday that Russia offers its services to transfer surplus uranium from other countries as a way to help resolve diplomatic disputes.
Peskov added that Russia has long presented such services as a potential option and is in contact with all stakeholders involved in the Iranian nuclear negotiations.
According to Tehran, around 440 kilograms of uranium enriched up to 60% purity were buried and rendered inaccessible under debris during U.S. and Israeli attacks on Iran’s nuclear facilities.
