WANA (Aug 19) – Iran has dismissed recent foreign media reports alleging cooperation between the Taliban and the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) regarding a list of spies, calling them “baseless and false.”

According to reports, Iran’s foreign ministry has said that claims regarding the issue that the Taliban handed over a list of spies to the IRGC are fabricated and worthless.

The ministry described such allegations as part of a broader campaign of defamation and systematic distortion against Iran, aimed at diverting attention from Israel’s ongoing military operations in Gaza.

Afghan Taliban authorities have also rejected the claims. On Monday, Taliban representatives stated that they had not met with Iranian officials regarding “British spies” and denied providing any such list to Iran.

The reports had suggested that the IRGC requested the Taliban to hand over the names of Afghan collaborators with Britain in order to identify MI6 agents. Both Iranian and Taliban sources have dismissed these claims as entirely untrue.
