WANA (Jan 05) – Iran’s Deputy Foreign Ministry Spokesman Shamsizadeh has dismissed a report by The New York Times claiming that Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi held a media meeting on Thursday in which he spoke about the importance of “survival.”

Commenting on the report, which was also highlighted prominently by the Iranian opposition outlet Iran International, Shamsizadeh said some Western parties appear determined to turn “every trivial issue into an excuse for fabrication and agitation.”

He added that it is entirely normal and customary for ministers or spokespersons to hold regular and periodic meetings with journalists and media representatives on foreign policy matters.

However, Shamsizadeh stressed that no such meeting, as described by the American newspaper, took place last Thursday, saying the claim “has no basis in reality.”
