Iran Denies Reports of Second Round of Islamabad Talks
WANA (Apr 19) – Iran has rejected reports of a second round of negotiations in Islamabad, describing them as inaccurate.
According to a news agency close to the Iranian government, officials in Tehran said recent developments have hindered any progress toward resuming talks. The report cited what it described as excessive and unrealistic demands by the United States, frequent shifts in positions, and ongoing contradictions in Washington’s statements as key factors behind the impasse.
It also pointed to the continuation of what Iran calls a “naval blockade”—which it considers a violation of the ceasefire understanding—along with what it described as threatening rhetoric. These factors, the report said, have collectively prevented meaningful progress and left little prospect for a productive outcome under current conditions.
The agency further described reports circulated by the United States about a new round of talks as part of a broader “media game” within a “blame game” framework aimed at increasing pressure on Iran.
