WANA (Nov 16) – For the first time, Iran has launched the export shipment of clinker by rail from Hashtgerd Station — located at the Abyek Cement Plant — to Turkey.

In line with its policies to expand international transport, boost transit capacity, and strengthen the role of railways in the national economy, the Islamic Republic of Iran Railways has begun the inaugural export movement of clinker from Hashtgerd to the Turkish market.

The shipment consists of 27 freight wagons carrying a total of 1,500 tons, which were officially loaded and dispatched today.

This initial phase is being implemented as a pilot, and if tariff conditions, transit performance, and border exchange procedures prove efficient, monthly exports of around 20,000 tons are expected to follow.

According to officials, the operation will generate approximately €2,000 in foreign currency revenue and is expected to stimulate growth in export rail transport across the Tehran Railway Directorate and the national rail network.
