On Saturday, October 18, 2025, Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty held a telephone conversation with Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi to discuss bilateral relations as well as regional and international developments.
During the call, the two sides exchanged views on the latest situation in Gaza, following the understanding reached to halt the ongoing genocide.
Expressing deep concern over the blatant violations of the ceasefire agreement by the Israeli regime in recent days — which have resulted in the martyrdom and injury of dozens of Palestinians — Araghchi stressed the responsibility of the ceasefire guarantors and the entire international community to prevent the continuation of killings and atrocities by the occupying regime.
The Egyptian side was also briefed on Iran’s views regarding the nuclear issue during the conversation.

Previously, the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs had reported that Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty held separate phone calls with Seyed Abbas Araqchi, Iran’s Foreign Minister; Rafael Grossi, Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA); and Steve Vitkaff, the U.S. Special Envoy for Middle East Affairs, to discuss developments related to Iran’s nuclear issue.
According to the statement released on Saturday, these consultations come as part of Egypt’s ongoing efforts to support security, stability, and de-escalation in the region, and to build on the momentum created following the Cairo Agreement signed between Iran and the IAEA on September 9.
During the conversations, the parties reportedly emphasized the need to continue efforts aimed at reducing tensions, fostering mutual trust, and creating the conditions for resuming negotiations between Iran and the United States toward reaching a comprehensive agreement on Iran’s nuclear program — one that considers the interests of all parties and contributes to regional security and stability.
The statement added that the officials agreed to maintain coordination and consultations and to examine proposals aimed at achieving tangible progress in this regard.
