WANA (Sep 16) – Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian on Monday expressed hope for the rapid restoration of official diplomatic relations between Tehran and Cairo, emphasizing that strengthening unity among Islamic nations is the most effective way to prevent the continuation of Israeli crimes.
Meeting with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi on the sidelines of the emergency summit of Islamic and Arab leaders in Doha, Pezeshkian welcomed the growing diplomatic exchanges between the two countries.
He noted that Iran and Egypt, as two nations with proud and ancient civilizations, could expand cooperation to serve the interests of their peoples as well as those of the wider region.
“Iran hopes for the swift establishment of formal ties with Egypt,” Pezeshkian said, adding that “reinforcing solidarity among Muslim countries is the best means of confronting the repetition and continuation of the Zionist regime’s crimes.”
