Iran Executes Two Agents Linked to Mossad Espionage Network
WANA (Apr 20) – The Iranian Judiciary announced on Monday the execution of two individuals, Mohammad Masoumshahi and Hamed Validi, convicted of spying for Israel’s intelligence agency, the Mossad. The death sentences were carried out at dawn after being upheld by the Supreme Court.
Recruitment and Training in Iraqi Kurdistan
According to the official statement, the two men were members of an espionage cell that established contact with Mossad officers through cyberspace and via travel to the Kurdistan Region of Iraq.
The Judiciary revealed that the individuals underwent specialized training for terrorist operations and “harassment actions” before returning to Iran.
The training reportedly included:
Operational Skills: Secure communication methods, navigation, and identifying coordinates of sensitive sites.
Technical Instruction: Constructing explosive projectiles and launchers.
Propaganda and Arson: The convicts had previously set fire to military and public sites, documenting their actions for their handlers in exchange for payments made in cryptocurrency.
Interception of Planned Attacks in Tehran
The Judiciary stated that the network was under security surveillance when they were assigned a new mission: a dual attack on a public service center and a military facility in Tehran.
The defendants had already identified launch points and documented the perimeters of their targets using guided navigation from Mossad handlers. They were arrested while in possession of 10 explosive projectiles ready for launch. Subsequent raids on safe houses in Tehran, Karaj, and Isfahan led to the seizure of additional ammunition and mortar-making materials.
Legal Proceedings and Charges
Following the completion of the investigation, the revolutionary court in Karaj tried Masoumshahi and Validi on several capital charges, including:
- Moharebeh (Waging war against God).
- Collaboration with hostile groups and the Israeli regime.
- Assembly and collusion against national security.
- Membership in a criminal terrorist group.
The court issued the death penalty based on “confessions, evidence, and reports from law enforcement and intelligence officers.” Despite an appeal by the defendants and their legal counsel, the Supreme Court of Iran reviewed and subsequently affirmed the original verdict.
Execution of Sentence
Following the rejection of their appeal and the completion of all legal formalities, the execution of Mohammad Masoumshahi and Hamed Validi was carried out this morning.
