WANA (Jun 21) – While U.S. President Donald Trump has acknowledged the depletion of his country’s oil reserves, 36 million barrels of Iranian oil have been shipped to global markets.

According to TankerTrackers, a company that monitors Iranian oil shipments and has previously tracked Iranian cargoes to the United States, Iran exported 36 million barrels of crude oil over the past week—from the day after the memorandum of understanding was signed until today.

A few hours after the agreement was signed, Mark Dubowitz, head of the Foundation for Defense of Democracies—the think tank that had proposed a maritime blockade of Iran—said: “Calm the energy markets again and refill the reserves… hit harder and attack.”

Two days later, Trump stated that if an agreement had not been reached, U.S. reserves would have been exhausted within four more weeks.

TankerTrackers now says that roughly the same volume of Iranian oil remains in waters surrounding Iran, either being transported aboard tankers or held in floating storage.
