Iran Extends Flight Suspension at Tehran Airports by 24 Hours
WANA (Jun 30) – Iran’s Ministry of Roads and Urban Development has announced the extension of flight suspensions at Imam Khomeini International Airport and Mehrabad Airport for another 24 hours, citing ongoing security and safety assessments.
According to Ministry spokesperson Majid Akhavan, this decision follows a directive from the Civil Aviation Organization’s Coordination Committee, which has temporarily restricted domestic and international flights to and from several regions in Iran.
“In the current circumstances, only overflights by international aircraft are permitted through central and western parts of the country,” Akhavan stated. “Airspace in the eastern regions remains accessible for domestic, international, and transit flights.”
The spokesperson urged citizens to refrain from traveling to airports located in the northern, southern, and western parts of the country—including Mehrabad and Imam Khomeini International Airport—and to follow updates strictly through official channels.
“No flights are currently allowed to or from these airports. Passengers are advised not to purchase tickets for these routes until further notice,” he emphasized.
