WANA (Apr 05) – Iran’s Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi held separate phone conversations with his Russian and Indian counterparts to discuss bilateral ties and regional and international developments.

Iran and Russia Call

Araghchi and Sergey Lavrov discussed the latest regional developments and international issues related to the ongoing conflict involving the United States and Israel against Iran.

Araghchi outlined what he described as U.S. and Israeli actions against Iran over the past 37 days, including strikes on industrial infrastructure, hospitals, schools, residential areas, and nuclear facilities.

He emphasized the need for urgent action by international bodies, particularly the United Nations Security Council and the International Atomic Energy Agency, to condemn these actions and hold those responsible accountable.

He also referred to U.S. threats to target Iran’s energy facilities, describing such statements as an explicit acknowledgment of potential war crimes.

Araghchi called for a responsible, international law-based approach from all influential members of the UN Security Council and urged preventing the misuse of the body by the United States.

Lavrov reiterated Russia’s position condemning U.S. and Israeli military actions against Iran and stressed the need to halt attacks on civilian targets, particularly the Bushehr Nuclear Power Plant. He also called for efforts to prevent further escalation of the conflict.

Iran and India Call

Abbas Araghchi and Subrahmanyam Jaishankar also held a phone conversation on Sunday night to discuss regional developments and the consequences of ongoing military actions involving the United States and Israel against Iran.

Araghchi referred to attacks on Iran’s civilian population, industrial infrastructure, and safeguarded peaceful nuclear facilities, as well as continued U.S. rhetoric threatening Iran’s energy infrastructure.

He emphasized the responsibility of the international community and the United Nations to address violations of international law and prevent the normalization of war crimes.

He also stressed the determination of Iran’s people and armed forces to defend the country’s national interests and security, warning about the broader implications of the conflict for regional and global stability.

Jaishankar, for his part, highlighted the importance of efforts to restore stability and security in the region and expressed India’s support for ongoing regional and international initiatives aimed at ending the conflict.
