WANA (Jul 06) – Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi and French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot held a phone conversation on Sunday to discuss the latest regional developments and the status of consular relations between the two countries.

Jean-Noël Barrot called Araghchi, who is currently in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, to attend the 17th BRICS Summit.

During the call, the two sides discussed the latest developments following the recent military aggression by the Israeli regime and the United States against Iran.

They also exchanged views on the current state of consular relations between Tehran and Paris.

On June 13, the Israeli regime, in a blatant violation of international law and the national sovereignty of the Islamic Republic of Iran, launched military attacks targeting areas in Tehran and other cities, including Iran’s nuclear facilities.

This act resulted in the death of a number of scientists, military personnel, and civilian citizens.

Subsequently, in the early hours of Sunday, June 22, the United States directly attacked Iran’s nuclear sites in Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan, effectively joining Israel’s war against Iran.

Following these military aggressions, several European countries imposed restrictions on their embassies in Tehran. On June 24, the US President claimed that a ceasefire agreement had been reached between Iran and Israel.

The Islamic Republic of Iran, while emphasizing that it was not the initiator of the war, stated that if Israel halted its illegal aggression, Iran would have no intention of continuing its retaliatory actions.

Amid the de-escalation of tensions, some countries, including Switzerland, reopened their embassies in Tehran.
