WANA (May 06) – In a phone conversation between the presidents of Iran and France, the latest regional developments and the progress of ceasefire-related negotiations were discussed.

According to official sources, both sides reviewed the strategic situation in the region, with particular focus on developments concerning the Strait of Hormuz, as well as the preliminary ceasefire agreement and ongoing negotiations between the Islamic Republic of Iran and the United States. The two leaders exchanged their views and assessments on these issues.

During the call, Iran’s president referred to the Islamic Republic’s lack of trust in the United States, emphasizing that this distrust stems from what he described as hostile actions by Washington. He pointed to recent incidents, noting that attacks carried out during the course of negotiations are viewed by Tehran as “a stab in the back.”

President Masoud Pezeshkian also underscored that the Islamic Republic of Iran, within the framework of international laws and regulations, remains prepared to pursue diplomatic avenues seriously in order to bring the conflict to an end, while firmly insisting on safeguarding the rights of the Iranian people.

Further details of the conversation are expected to be released in due course.
