Iran Freestyle Wrestling Team Heads to Zagreb
WANA (Feb 01) – The Iranian freestyle wrestling team has just departed for the international ranking competitions in Zagreb, Croatia.
Iranian wrestlers in both freestyle and Greco-Roman finally received their visas to participate in the United World Wrestling (UWW) international ranking event in Zagreb, and the freestyle team is now en route to the competition.
The Croatia International Freestyle and Greco-Roman Ranking Tournament will be held from February 4 to 8 in Zagreb.
Among the Iranian contingent is Olympic and World Champion Hassan Yazdani, who will compete in an international event for the first time in the 97 kg weight class upon his return to the mat.
The Iranian freestyle wrestlers traveling to the competition are:
- 57 kg: Milad Valizadeh, Ali Yahya Pour
- 61 kg: Reza Momeni
- 65 kg: Peyman Nemati
- 70 kg: Sina Khalili, Ebrahim Elahi
- 74 kg: Ali Akbar Fazli
- 79 kg: Adel Panahian, Sobhan Asmi
- 86 kg: Ali Savadkouhi, Abolfazl Shamsipour
- 92 kg: Abolfazl Rahmani, Mohammad Mobin Azimi
- 97 kg: Hassan Yazdani
- 125 kg: Morteza Jan Mohammadzadeh
