WANA (Mar 14) – Mehdi Taj, head of the Football Federation Islamic Republic of Iran, held a phone call on Saturday with national futsal goalkeeper Bagher Mohammadi after his home in Tehran was reportedly targeted in an airstrike.

According to Iranian officials, the house in the Javadiyeh district was struck by what they described as Israeli and U.S. fighter jets shortly before the start of the Quds Day march on Friday.

During the call, Mohammadi — who helped Iran national futsal team win the 2026 AFC Futsal Asian Cup in Indonesia last month — said he and his family were safe.

He added that such attacks on residential areas would not weaken the determination of Iranians.

The goalkeeper, who was named the best goalkeeper at the 2024 AFC Futsal Asian Cup in Thailand, said his home was completely destroyed in the strike. Officials said the house was empty at the time of the attack and no one was injured.
