WANA (Mar 23) – The spokesman for Iran’s Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters said that the Islamic Republic has “full authority” and holds the initiative in the Persian Gulf region and Oman’s territorial waters, adding that it is controlling the Strait of Hormuz in a “smart and powerful” manner.

He stressed that, given Iran’s high level of operational oversight and deterrent capability in the area, there is no need to lay mines in the Persian Gulf.

At the same time, the spokesman emphasized that the Islamic Republic would use any means necessary, if required, to ensure security and safeguard its interests.

He also said that Iran’s armed forces, with full command over what he described as “American and Zionist enemies” and in coordination with regional countries, are capable of maintaining security in the Persian Gulf.

He further rejected the role of outside powers in the region’s security arrangements, stressing that extra-regional countries have no right to interfere in Persian Gulf security affairs.
